Essential Oils originate from the plants, distilled by the process of using either steam and water, obtained from the flowers, barks, roots and other fertile parts of the plants. These oils have high concentration of aromatic as well as chemical properties of the plant.
Essential oils are obtained through the distillation process and fermentation. The oils take the scent of the plant parts from where these are extracted. If an Essential Oil has a bad odor, it does not mean that the oil is bad for use. It is general myth propagated by many users. You need to check the qualities of Essential Oil and not its smell.
Essential oils are good to use for a span of 3 years, and some oils are effective for as long as 10 years. To increase the shelf life of Essential oils, it is important that you store them in cool and dark places. The lid should always be kept air tight.
Most of your essential will be good for up to 3 years if stored properly. They need to be kept cool, and the lid should always be tightly sealed. There are some oils that are good for 10 years or more, such as patchouli. You can also keep the Essential Oil in refrigerator but only if the bottle is air tight. If smell of Essential Oil gets weaker, or the oil has gone cloudy or viscous, think that the shelf life has matured.
The name “ESSENTIAL OILS” is a misnomer; professionals address this class of oils as “VOLATILE OILS”. Here the name “VOLATILE” refers to the characteristic nature possessed by the oil, which means that such oils can easily evaporate.
Not all Essential Oils stain the clothes. However, if the tinge of Essential Oil is dark, it may cause a wee bit of stain, but such a stain is only visible against the white, or light shade clothes.
Well, the answer is YES. You can use the Essential Oils in variety of ways, even if you do not have a diffuser. It all depends on how creative you are using the oils without a diffuser.
Essential Oils are more or less same as the Fragrance Oils. While the Essential oils are created from the steam distillation process, Fragrance Oils on the other hand are created through chemical synthesis in the laboratory.
